Congratulations to our clients, partners, advocates and friends for an exciting, productive 2009. It was a challenging year to say the least, but it was those challenges that have pushed us to adapt, innovate and ultimately excel. As we enter 2010, we are armed with renewed motivation, perspective and commitment to advancing our respective organizations.
Most importantly, 2010 brings opportunity to leverage our resources in ways that were not previously possible. The key to doing this lies in having a clearly outlined strategy, complete with individual objectives and tactics for achieving them. It is no longer feasible to execute general awareness campaigns, hoping consumers will process your message and subsequently purchase your product or service. True success that permeates every facet of your business are results yielded by a thoroughly-planned, well-executed strategy.
In the new year, businesses will have to work harder and smarter to survive the competitive landscape. Now is the time to invest in ourselves, our businesses, and our plans. This means creating advertising strategies that are measurable and produce tangible results. You know where you want to go – let us help you get there.
Respectfully Yours, |

The key to creating an effective strategy for your company is simply that: to create a strategy for your company. Many companies fall victim to following trends in marketing and advertising. This is especially apparent in digital mediums. It is undeniable that digital mediums, such as social networks, are playing an increasingly important role in integrated communications strategies. However, you must examine what objective these mediums will address for your organization and how the tools provided in these mediums can help you succeed in reaching your objectives.
For example, developing a presence on Twitter has been a successful strategy for driving brand awareness and cultivating consumer relationships. However, that does not mean that Twitter is the right platform for you or that using it will produce similar results for your company. It may not offer exposure to your desired demographics, you may not have the time or human resources to effectively engage other users, or it may simply just be the wrong platform for your industry.
The first step to customizing an integrated communications strategy is determining what your goals are. Goals should reflect your overall vision for advancement. For example, what overall result are you looking to achieve from a social media campaign? From these, you can define measurable objectives. Measurable objectives allow you to track your return on investment for individual campaigns and increase or scale back efforts as the campaigns progress. They also provide a guide for developing a plan of action, management guidelines and a realistic timeline. When would you like to see your social media campaign results finalized? Determining these measurable objective will ensure that you stay on track to achieve your specific goals.
Once you have determined your goals and objectives, you can develop a strategy for achieving them. Which media or platforms will you use? What messages will be most effective for each medium? How will you execute the individual campaigns? A comprehensive strategy should address these questions and provide clear guidelines for execution and management.
At King Media, we specialize in the development of strategic plans specifically tailored to each business that we partner with. Our depth of experience helps us define measurable objective and strategies that can illuminate your big-picture goals on a realistic spectrum. The biggest step to success is the first one that you take. Let King Media be there to guide you. |

Q: How can I motivate my staff to be invested in our goals and objectives for 2010?
A: Motivation continues to be an important issue to managers. In the motivation literature, goal theory has emerged as one of the most valid approaches to understanding the process of motivation. The core finding of goal-setting research is that under certain conditions, specific, difficult goals lead to higher levels of performance than easy goals or vague goals.
Include your staff in development sessions for 2010’s goals and objectives. Allowing them to have input and voice their opinions will immediately contribute to a higher level of engagement across departments. Once the goals and objectives have been set, make sure that they are regularly communicated and reinforced. More specifically, giving employees tasks or action items that will contribute positively to achieving a goal or objective will present them with a clear challenge and motivate them to address that challenge in their daily routine.
Putting recognition systems in place is also an effective way to encourage employee engagement. Recognition can be something as small as mention in the weekly office memo for accomplishments or as significant as a quarterly bonus for highest performers. The key is to let employees know that their individual efforts are making a tangible difference in the company – and that this difference is appreciated by their fellow employees and supervisors.
